  • eat fast so waiters can earn more tips!

    October 16th, 2008 01:19 pm by Jimmy J

I was watching Oprah yesterday which I rarely get a chance to do lately…not because I am not a fan because I am I think she’s great but I just don’t have the time anymore what with trying to manage 5 blogs, a website and juggle the family thing. But she had a guest on there Steve Dublanica Aka The Waiter who recently wrote a book titled “” which is all about the dining experience from a waiters point of view and how they view/handle difficult customers upon other things.

He pointed out somethings that I honestly never thought about…and my wife and I consider ourselves to be very conscious and thoughtful for the most part about the world and people around us…or at least we try to be I mean 9 times out of 10 when we dine out we find ourselves stacking up dishes and tightening up the table prior to leaving to make it easier for the bus boy and I have been known to hunt down the waiter or waitress to give them their tip for fear that someone might swipe it before they can get back to the table in time.

In any case Steve goes on to say that on a busy night staying much longer after the check has been given to you actually cost the waiter and the restaurant money as the more patrons they can move in and out again on a “busy night” actually equals more profits for all involved…pretty simple concept but again something I had never really thought about.

Just in case your interested I have included a link to his book below:
